CITB Health and Safety Awareness

Objectives

If you have already entered or are about to enter the Construction or Civil Engineering industry as a member of the workforce, this course will help you to understand the potential hazards that you could face while working on site.

This course will provide you with a practical summary of health and safety, welfare and environmental issues identifying individual responsibilities, what the employer’s duties are and what should be done if you think anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk. From January 2018, new element relating to mental health and environmental awareness will be included. on completion of this course, the delegate will need to sit the CSCS Health and Safety Environment test to gain the Green Labourer card.

Content

The aim of this course is:

  • To ensure individual responsibilities are understood
  • Why you are carrying out your identified duties
  • What is expected of you
  • To ensure that you contribute to the safety of the workplace

At the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Understand the need to prevent accidents
  • Have an understanding of health and safety law
  • Identify how their role fits into the control and management of the site
  • Understand the need for risk assessments and method statements
  • Performing safely and asking for advice
  • How to report unsafe acts to prevent an accident

Delegates will be required to complete a multiple-choice exam at the end of the course as well as participate throughout the day. Three of the multiple-choice questions will be safety critical, meaning that delegates must answer these questions correctly in order to pass the exam.

Who Should Attend?

Anyone who works in Construction/Civil Engineering or who is new to the industry.

Certification for this course is valid for 5 years. To stay certified, you are required to retake the course before the expiry date.
